UK PICKS UP A THIRD OF MONTREUX NOMINATIONS
A total of 28 British programmes are chasing awards at this years Golden
Rose of Montreux Festival.
Da Ali G Show (Channel 4), The Jerry Atrick Show (Channel 5), Chewin The Fat (BBC
1), Lenny Henry in Pieces (BBC 1) and Attention Scum (BBC 2) are nominated in the COMEDY
category.
Britain has five nominations in the GAMESHOW category including Big Brother (C4) and The
Weakest Link (BBC).
In the VARIETY category, ITV shows Popstars and Baddiel and Skinner Unplanned and
C5s The Big Stage are nominated.
SITCOM nominations include A Many Splintered Thing (BBC 1), Coupling and Happiness (BBC
2), The Thing about Vince (ITV), Lee Evans - So What Now (BBC 1) and Black Books (C4).
Amongst nominees in the MUSIC category are Motown Mania (ITV) and Trevor Nelsons
Urban Choice (BBC Choice).
GRAND PRIX nominations in the arts and specials category are Bryn Terfell: A Feast of
Opera (BBC Wales), Sinatra - Good Guy, Bad Guy (ITV), I Love the 1970s (BBC 2) and
Howard Goodalls Big Bangs (C4).
The awards will be chosen from a shortlist of 89 programmes from 19 countries during the
Swiss festival which runs from 26 April to 1 May.
