BSCW - Giving you closer contact with Producers!
Latest news from the BSCW is the launch of a new web
facility. Since its start, the BSCW has offered market news on the
website, to provide you with opportunities to write. Now in our new
service producers will be able to find out about you, and contact you
directly! Having moved to a new, more user-friendly website at www.bscw.co.uk,
the BSCW is making some web space available to each member, where you
can write your own mini-CV, detailing your writing successes and
goals. This is all free of charge, and a new benefit of BSCW
membership.
Alongside this, for an additional fee is the
facility for you to put some of your work on the web space, whether
that is one or more sketches, or an entire sitcom episode, showcasing
your work directly to the producers and TV contacts you'd like to see
it. That's a mere £10 per thousand words, or £10 per item for
attaching files or graphics!
All these web details can then be viewed and
searched by producers looking for comedy writers, and an e-mail
facility allows them to contact you immediately! To make life even
easier for the producers, whenever we publish your latest news and
successes, we will include the address of your BSCW web space. Producers,
as well as other members can look you up, or if they're looking on the
web, click on a link that goes directly to your web-CV.
So, as if you didn't have enough to write, get
thinking about what you want producers to know about you, and write
the web-CV. This can be updated once a year, as part of your BSCW
membership, and could include:
Introduction - who you are, what jobs you're
looking for
Past work - listing of any significant finished
projects
Current projects - listing of any significant
ongoing projects
Address (optional)
Telephone (optional)
Fax (optional)
Email (optional)
Web site (optional)
To see an example, go to David
Bodycombe's page and have a look. You don't have to put all your
details up there, for example if you don't want contacting by phone,
or you can make it as easy as possible for producers to contact you by
their preferred method. You can then start giving out your BSCW web
space details to anyone who wants to find out more about your comedy
writing career!
Your site will be at http://www.bscw.co.uk/info/{your_name}
where {your_name} is the username you use to access the Members Only
sections of the BSCW site.
When you've worked out exactly what you want on your
section of the site, please e-mail it all to david@bscw.co.uk
and he will arrange for this to go on the site as soon as possible. He
will also contact you to arrange payment if there will be any charges
involved.
